recently we started testing our freshly delivered AD0505C0Z (45A phase current vers.) escs. First of all congrats to the very compact design! Thermal logging of the device also indicates muss improved losses compared to the AD0505A0 (37A vers.) hardware.
However we run into an unexpected stop of the escs during high rpm/phase current operation. I’ll attach the used configuration. What happens is that when running the esc from a 12S-Lipo (48V), above 4000rpm / 20A esc input current, the esc first becomes unstable (fixed) and at slightly higher setpoints suddenly stops. Afterwards it takes a few more seconds than usual to reboot. We run Telega V0.6.
I first lowered the current controlers bandwidth a bit which removed the unpleasant instability and enables stable operation. However close to maximum rpm the esc’s sudden stop remains. Next I added an additional 1mF low ESC capacitor to the input terminals of the esc as the problem seems like a power rail problem, (I am currently unable to measure this.) without much success.
I would like to hear your thoughts on next steps. With the AD0505A0 I also need to lower the current control bandwith but am able to operate reliable up to full throttle.
This could be related to a power surge or perhaps a regression in v0.6. We have not encountered a similar behavior before. Are you able to test v1 as well?
Any update, we having a very similar issue. We are using a cube orange + connected to the AD0505D0 ESC’s (running Telega V0.6) via dronecan and the motor seems to randomly cut-out and the ESC goes offline when it comes back online it says “updating“ for a few seconds then goes back into normal operation.
I did a second run today (slightly altered setup with Myxa CD 45A vers., T-Motors MN501-S KV240 propeller attached, Zubax Babel interface): First with Telega V0 (the problem remains) and consecutively with Telega V1 (
). I resetted the esc to factory settings (command 65532), restarted and configured a standard configuration (IMO, Ignore the INDI PID values for now, I couldnt tune them so far.). The esc failed to startup reliably even in torque control operation. I noticed from the compact feedback, that the listed dc voltage was far off (200 reported, vs 42V supplied).
I suspect the VSI configuration values are wrong despite the factory reset. I can not gurantee, that they were not overwriten at some point with Myxa AB values. So maybe factory reset doesnt work properly?
