EPM Pulling Force

It looks like an air gap of 1 mm will greatly reduce the pulling force of the EPM. Do you have any EPM options that are internally organized to produce a B field, and not as much for holding? I am working on a small satellite docking system experiment and need the EPM to pull in a passive free-flyer weighing approximately 300 grams (in microgravity). It doesn’t need to operate over a long distance, but it should be able to function over a distance of at least a few centimeters.

This is certainly possible, however this version of FluxGrip was designed with maximum payload as the main objective.

Your application (increased pulling force at a distance) would require a slightly different structure of the magnet. It’s something we’re definitely interested in pursuing in the future; however, we’re currently focused on other projects, so unless you’re willing to fund the required development work, it may take some time.
